From one biosphere to the next

There are more than 450 UNESCO biospheres in the world, distributed over all continents. Each has its distinctive history, its unique landscape and its own character. Christoph Nolte is going to visit several of them, one by one, sometimes staying for several weeks, in order to live and work with the people on the field, in workshops, and as a tourist guide or researcher.

Communication via the internet

Fast and direct: You can follow the complete Biosphere Tour by using this website. Interviews with local people, real life stories, pictures of landscapes and people - everything will be directly uploaded from the biospheres onto the world wide web and made available for everyone.

Language choice

Travel by bike

The distances between the biospheres will be covered by bicycle. With its moderate speed, independence and lack of pretentiousness, the bicycle allows for a more intimate contact to nature and people on the journey. As the most energy-saving medium of transport, it also communicates perfectly the idea of sustainability.

One year or longer

For the time being, the duration of the Biosphere Tour is planned as one year. This time will be sufficient to reach the borders of Indochina via the Middle East. Extensions will be possible if the tour becomes especially productive. It is also possible, that the first tour will be followed by subsequent journeys on other continents.
